Shoplifting Arrests in Scottsdale
Scottsdale Fashion Center is one of the most popular malls in the Country. Uber revealed that in 2018, more people took an Uber to Scottsdale than any other place in the Phoenix area. As a result of the significant traffic at Scottsdale Fashion Square, our office gets hired numerous times per year to represent people for their shoplifting offense.
Most of the time, the people who hire us have never been in trouble with the law before – often times, they’ve never even spoken with an attorney. Although it’s unfortunate that our clients arrested for shoplifting are now having to go through the criminal justice system, the fact that we may be able to show the judge or the prosecutor that they have no prior criminal history, is a very good thing.
Scottsdale Shoplifting Penalties
The Arizona law that relates to shoplifting is ARS 13-1805. Under the law, the following are criminalized:

The penalties for shoplifting all depend on the value of the items allegedly shoplifted:
- Less than $1,000 – class 1 misdemeanors;
- $1,000-$2,000 – class 6 felony;
