My firm experiences an influx in cases assigned to the North Mesa Justice Court during the summer months. This is because the North Mesa Justice Courts has jurisdiction over the Salt River and Canyon Lake. Some of the more common charges our clients face are minor in consumption of alcohol, minor in possession of alcohol, disorderly conduct, furnishing alcohol to a minor, operating a boat under the influence (OUI), and DUI. These are all very serious charges that must be handled by an attorney who is not only experienced in handling these cases, but who has experience in the Maricopa County Justice Courts.
My best advice for anyone facing charges at the North Mesa Justice Court is to HIRE AN ATTORNEY TO HAVE YOUR CASE ASSIGNED TO A DIFFERENT COURT. The North Mesa Justice Court is the strictest court in Maricopa County. If you do not hire an attorney to file the necessary documents to have your case removed, you are making a big mistake. The Arizona Rules of Criminal Procedure have rigid timelines for removing cases, so you need to move quickly after learning your case has been assigned to North Mesa.
